Pope Benedict XVI today received in audience the President of the Republic of Gabon, His Excellency Mr. Ali Bongo Ondimba, who then met with the Em. His Eminence Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Secretary of State, accompanied by Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, Secretary for Relations with States.
During the cordial talks, he recalled the President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba, who died recently. Moreover, it has welcomed the good relations between la Santa Sede e il Gabon, in virtù dell’Accordo-Quadro stipulato nel 1997 e dei suoi sviluppi, e ci si è soffermati sul contributo dei cattolici allo sviluppo del Paese e al progresso integrale del popolo gabonese, in particolare nel campo educativo.
